8th Annual Ukrainian Cultural Festival took place at Soyuzivka

To honor Ukraine’s struggle for democracy and Kyiv’s Euromaidan, the 8th Annual Ukrainian Cultural Festival took place July 11-13, 2014 at Soyuzivka Heritage Center of Kerhonkson, NY. The Festival was organized by the Ukrainian National Foundation, under the patronage of the Embassy of Ukraine and support of the Consulate General of Ukraine in New York.
The weekend festival included the Filmfest honouring Maidan and featured performers and dancers of the Roma Pryma-Bohachevsky Ukrainian Dance Workshop, the Rusalka Ukrainian Dance Ensemble, the Ukrainian Chorus Dumka of New York. The Gala night show included also the performance of Papa Duke Band from Toronto, starring Vasyl Popadiuk. Special Ukrainian guests, Ruslana and Oleh Skrypka, visited the event.
As in the past, the program of the festival highlighted many folk art and souvenir vendors and delicious traditional foods. Many activities, including a Varenyky Eating Contest and an exhibit of "a Day in the life of a Ukrainian village" provided something for everyone.
At the Gala night Mr.Igor Sybiga, the Consul General of Ukraine in New York delivered opening remarks and presented greetings from Oleksandr Motsyk, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the USA.
