President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel discussed the situation in the Donbas after the proclamation of the ceasefire regime.
Angela Merkel once again supported the actions of the Ukrainian government on the peaceful settlement, particularly the adoption of the law on special order of local government in certain districts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions and the law on amnesty by the Verkhovna Rada.
The interlocutors agree that one can state progress in the peaceful settlement only when all the parties fulfill the provisions of Minsk protocol of September 5 and Minsk memorandum of September 19. Petro Poroshenko and Angela Merkel express common opinion that bilateral adherence to the ceasefire regime, withdrawal of Russian troops, liberation of hostages, control over the Ukrainian-Russian border, creation of buffer area and establishment of efficient monitoring and verification by the OSCE in the given area will prove that all the parties fulfill the arrangements achieved.
Petro Poroshenko and Angela Merkel also discussed the possibility of allocating the third wave of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine by the EU.
