Information on the terrorist act against Malaysian Airlines Boeing-777 plane

July 17, 2014 at an altitude of 10,100 meters was shot down civilian aircraft Boeing-777 (Flight MAS-17) of the Malaysian Airlines en route from Amsterdam (Netherlands) - Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).

All 280 passengers who were on board the aircraft and 15 crew members were killed. This downing of the plane became a tragedy for Ukraine and the world.

Ukraine expresses its sincere condolences to the families and friends of those killed in this terrible accident.

The President of Ukraine immediately initiated the establishment of the State Commission with the involvement of the ICAO and other international agencies for proper investigation of the case.

The Ukrainian Government takes all steps to gain full access to the crash site to carry out the necessary actions for identification of the victims of the tragedy and repatriation of the bodies.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has set up operational headquarters, which will run on non-stop basis for handling complaints of relatives of dead passengers and co-ordination of the work of foreign diplomatic missions accredited in Ukraine. Operational headquarters have been organized at the Embassy of Ukraine in Malaysia and the Embassy of Ukraine in the Netherlands. MFA of Ukraine will ensure expeditious issuance of visas to relatives of the victims, including on arrival at the Borispol Airport.

During the period of the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) the Ukrainian Armed Forces did not use missile systems. At the time of the downing of Flight 17 no fighter plane of  the Armed Forces of Ukraine was in the airspace.  The flight of the Boeing-777 was beyond the defeat ground-based air defense zone of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.


Ukraine has received evidences that the case with the downing of the plane refers to the deliberate bringing down of the aircraft by missile systems.


Within a few hours after the attack the Security Service of  Ukraine  received and published the undeniable evidence that the aircraft was shot down by pro-Russian terrorists with Russian arms.
