Acting President, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov declared the 3rd and the 4th of May the days of mourning for those who died during tragic events in Odesa. It was stated in Decree № 450/2014 "On the announcement of the days of mourning in Ukraine" signed by the Acting President today.
"The 2nd of May became a tragic day for Ukraine. I have signed a Decree on two-day mourning in Ukraine for the heroes who died during counterterrorist operation and tragic events in Odesa. I would like to express sincere condolences to friends and relatives of the deceased," Oleksandr Turchynov appealed to citizens.
"We must make right conclusions after the given tragedy that happened first of all due to the external provocation. Guilty of organizing and provoking such events will be punished," he also emphasized.
Under the document, on May 3 and 4, the State Flag of Ukraine must be flown at a half mast on the buildings and premises of the state government, local government, public enterprises, institutions and organizations.
Sporting, entertaining and concert events must be abolished. Also, respective changes must be made in the programs of TV and radio broadcasting.
