On March 1, 2013 Consul General of Ukraine in New York Igor Sybiga met with His Eminence Metropolitan-Archbishop Stefan (Soroka) of the Ukrainian Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia, PA.
The parties discussed cooperation between the Consulate General and the Church. In particular, the parties discussed the issue of joint events to be organized in 2013-2014 to celebrate the 1025th anniversary of baptism of Kievan Rus and the 200th anniversary of Shevchenko. The events are supposed to involve Orthodox and Catholic clergy, the Ukrainian community of the consular district, local officials and the public.
